Bodegas de los Herederos del Marqués de Riscal have been voted the Best Vineyard in the World and Best Vineyard in Europe 2024 in the international World’s Best Vineyards 2024 contest.
The historic winery has taken top spot in this prestigious list which was made public at a ceremony held at the Nyetimber Estate vineyard in the south of England; an award which recognises their commitment to innovation and excellence in their aim of offering a universe of experiences to visitors since the inauguration of the Marqués de Riscal City of Wine in 2006.
For Alejandro Aznar, president of Bodegas de los Herederos del Marqués de Riscal, “this award recognises the winery’s commitment to the culture of wine and its promotion as one of the pioneers in opening its doors to the public, reconciling tradition and modernity through unforgettable experiences.”
Relaxing in the Hotel Marqués de Riscal, a Luxury Collection Hotel, a building designed by the renowned architect Frank O. Gehry; discovering how the Marqués de Riscal wines are made in a tour of the winery; enjoying a treatment inspired by the properties of grapes in the Spa Vinothérapie® Caudalie and treating yourself to the gastronomic delights of the area and the finest local produce it can offer, overseen by the Riojan chef, Francis Paniego, are just some of the memorable experiences on offer in the Marqués de Riscal City of Wine.
This important recognition comes after being chosen as the Second Best Vineyard in the World in the 2021, 2022 and 2023 editions of the competition. In fact, the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin hosted the awards for the World’s Best Vineyards 2023 and the international committee made up of members of the jury, specialist wine writers and critics had the opportunity to visit the bodega and experience a historic tasting.
Bodegas de los Herederos del Marqués de Riscal would like to extend their warmest congratulations to the other seven Spanish bodegas included in the list, unquestionable proof of the extraordinarily high standard of wine tourism in Spain, They also congratulate the organisers of the contest for yet again showcasing this year the importance of wine tourism as part of the culture of wine.
